Boilerplate

ONE LINE

Keel Home Finance is budgeting and finance software for households. It plans each paycheck, saves ahead for the bills that only come once in a while, and keeps track of investments and net worth.

SHORT

Keel Home Finance is personal budgeting and finance software for households. Every dollar gets a job, and you create your own paycheck-specific accounts to budget from, so you always know what each paycheck has left. Money for irregular bills is set aside month by month. Banks, credit cards, loans and investments connect through Plaid, and your net worth updates as they do. Built by Punkerbit Corp.

LONG

Keel Home Finance is personal budgeting and finance software for households. It is built for people who want their budget to agree with their bank account down to the penny. Most budgeting apps hand you one pool of money for the month. Keel lets you create your own paycheck-specific accounts to budget from, so you can see how much of each paycheck is already committed and how much is free to spend. Bills that come once or twice a year, such as insurance, car registration or tuition, get a due date, and Keel works out how much to put away each month so the money is there when the bill arrives. Banks, credit cards, loans and investment accounts connect through Plaid, and charges move from pending to posted on their own. Seven reports cover income, expenses, cash flow, account balances, debt, investments and net worth. Keel Home Finance is made by Punkerbit Corp., a Delaware corporation.

What it does

  • Every bill has a bank or income source behind it. You give each budget item an amount and a payment source. When you pick that budget item on a transaction in the banking page, the expense is captured against it and the item shows the payment as complete.
  • Investments in the same place. Watch stocks, bonds, IRAs and precious metals. Buy the same stock twice and the two buys become one position at the average price you paid, and clicking that position opens a table listing every buy behind it. Prices update daily, and a countdown shows when the market opens or closes.
  • Money set aside for irregular bills. Give a bill its due date and Keel works out what to put away each month, so the insurance payment is already covered when it lands. In the month the bill is due, Keel adds the sinking fund to that budget item and allocates the savings you have built up for it.
  • Banks keep the records. Most checking, savings, credit card, loan and investment accounts connect through Plaid, and charges settle from pending to posted on their own. For the accounts that will not connect, there are simple manual entry and update tools.
  • Cards and loans you are paying off. Each one becomes its own line in the budget, and you watch the balance come down as you pay it.
  • Net worth, month by month. What you own against what you owe, with one switch that hides the numbers when someone is looking over your shoulder.
  • Seven reports. Income, expenses, cash flow, account balances, debt and credit, investments and net worth. Print one, save it as PDF, Excel, CSV or Word, or have it emailed.
  • Ask Keel. A built-in assistant for money questions. It is given no access to your accounts, balances or transactions.
  • The app on your phone. Open m.helm.khfonline.com in your phone’s browser and install it from there, then check today’s spending and the budget anywhere, with no address bar in the way.
  • A record of every change. Who changed what, and when, in your own time zone.

Quotes

“I felt like there were huge visibility gaps in the available personal budgeting and finance market that needed to be filled. I created the model itself from spreadsheets that I used over the years and recreated it in an online app that does even more than the original spreadsheets ever did. We are excited to launch this app. I use it every day myself.”Ron Romero, Founder
“I am excited to offer Sinking fund and Investments tracking in our app. This will really hit home for many families looking to track everything in one place.”Ron Romero, Founder

For reviewers

There is a demo household with a year of real-looking data in it, so nobody has to review an empty app. The login comes with the pitch, or ask for it at ron@punkerbit.com.

Sample reports from that same household are public at khfonline.com/sample-reports.
